I can’t speak for the police force but this issue was a major point of friction when I was in the Marines. For context I was Combat Camera, but in the years around 2010, pushing back in Afghanistan, the guys would get attached to infantry battalions and go to Helmand for 7-13 months and ear dirt and get Purple Hearts… and since they were constantly deployed and the MOS was closed, stay lance corporals for forever and a half. I picked up corporal around the five year mark and that wasn’t at all uncommon. Meanwhile the females would either be at a base unit and not deploy, OR they’d go to afghan and stay at the division level and only leave the air base when a general needed a photo op, and since they stayed close to the staff, they magically all got meritorious promotions. At First MarDiv’s Comcam shop, there were about a dozen male lance corporals who’d been on two HARD combat deployments who were in sections led by female NCOs who got promoted because they stayed snug in the rear with the staff, and this phenomenon wasn’t restricted that that unit. When I went to the MEU for for my third deployment, I was still a lance corporal (closed MOS) and my sergeant was a female who hadn’t stepped over seas and had less time in service than I had. Don’t get me wrong, I love her to death and she’s a dear friend, but the situation was bullshit. That system was so bad that by the time I was a sergeant coming off my fourth pump, there were female gunnery sergeants who joined two years after I did and either had only done a MEU or gone to Al Assad as a general’s photographer and gotten meritorious promotions as end of tour awards, while guys that were out pulling triggers got a pat on the back and a “get back to work.”
Yes it's absolutely a problem. Women demanding "equal" access to promotions except they don't deploy like the men in their MOS and now thanks to quotas, they're getting leadership positions over men they can't even hold a candle to. When I joined as admin, women were not allowed to be assigned to Victor units, because if they deploy, your admin ass deploys too. I hate that they changed all that since I left
Yeah, and it caused an unnecessary divide. Like if you want the equal promotion and opportunity, give them EQUAL opportunity. Same physical standards and deployment expectations. Here’s your rifle and some wet wipes. See you in six months.
Though to be fair I’ve been out since 2018 so I have no clue how they’re running the show now. It’s no longer my circus or monkey.
Many long years ago, I was sent off to Somalia, where we actively invented new methods that led to a rewrite of Army manuals on intelligence collection. I was deployed in a combat zone where meritorious promotion was possible. One senior NCO praised my work as worthy of the most senior of intell staff.
I was told I would not be meritoriously promoted because 'it wasn't fair to the guys who stayed home.'
WTF, over.
It's not just the Corps; it was DoD wide stupidity.
As a former LEO, I mostly agree with your article. I will say, that I think women CAN work patrol, IF there are very specific standards put in place. For instance, no women under 5'10' and or under 175 pounds should be allowed on patrol AND they must pass very rigid physical strength and agility tests. This is going to attract a very specific type of woman. I have worked with a few of them and they could do the job of patrol work but they are VERY rare.
A man that wants to commit a crime and resist the arrest will do it in the presence of multiple female patrol officers because he was going to do it anyway regardless.
A man who's trying to resist arrest doesn't care morally about the situation at hand and whether or not she has a vagina he simply knows that it's time to escape but it seems like liberal officers and male feminists are ignoring biology for feel-good decisions.
Exactly. Scum bags are gonna scum bag either way, but the point of a police officer is to thwart the scum bag without killing him, and women are just likely to do that (even if they travel in groups)
"Women have to pull their taser or their firearm to subdue a man, whereas another man can just choke the fucker until he behaves."
You don't seem to understand de-escalation at all. And I see no evidence that you understand the qualifications for a patrol officer at all. You seem to be speaking exclusively from ignorance
I apologize for blithering ignorance. Please educate me on how the average woman, weighed down by her flak, radio, body cam and other gear, should successfully physically subdue a violent male suspect who may or may not be armed without the use of her firearm or taser.

Horray for boat spaces.
