Spot on review! Having been raised in the Mormon church, I think your review was accurate and showed a knowledge that several other reviewers have not demonstrated. Great job!

I think missions are less dangerous than you’re making them out to be. Missionaries return home by 9pm every night and are often instructed to leave more dangerous areas much earlier or in some cases to avoid them completely. Sister missionaries specifically are given the safer areas within their missions.

For these and other reasons, sister missionaries are only very rarely victims of violence.

"turn the other cheek" in historical context was an act of defiance and social awareness.

In the culture of biblical times those of higher status were allowed to slap those of lower status with their open right hand. The only response allowed by those of lower status was that of accepting the insult.

But to turn the other cheek, that forced the person who gave the insult to either slap with their left hand or the back of their right hand.

Slapping with the left hand and the back of the right hand were both insults reserved for people of higher status, so if you turned the other cheek you forced the person to either stop delivering the insulting slaps, or to grant you higher status by delivering a greater insult.

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Is taken out of context:

Jesus was speaking to all the adulterers who had been sleeping with the adulteress, after the woman had been caught in the act. Every single man who wanted to stone that woman had either been sleeping with her, or had also committed adultery and Jesus knew it.

Irony of the mainstream media and anti-religious pundits and so many others crying "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" is that it's the equivalent of the adulterers telling Jesus he can't judge because he's not perfect either before they stole the woman and eliminate the evidence of their own crimes.

Also forgotten is the fact that Jesus told the adulteress to "go and sin no more".

Mainstream anti-religious culture basically says the exact opposite: "Do what thou wilt."

Fantastic perspective! You presented so many great points. I've not seen this movie, so I really appreciate the review. I’m especially interested in watching Alyssa’s take on this movie. On a random side note, I'm really happy Hugh Grant is no longer acting in terrible romcoms lol. I much prefer him as a creeper in a sweater (which, btw, I feel like every dad had that sweater in the 90s).

To be fair the Muslims say that puts a capital offence to leave their religion. I think the ex-Mormons are glad their departure didn’t put a price on their heads.

Let’s not suggest that the Muslim way of keeping their numbers up is “better” when it is in fact horrendous.
