April was one one hell of a ride for me!
Now that I’m done with my day job, I have much more time. But in wrapping things up, I had a massive to-do list, so I couldn’t get as much tv/reading time as I would have liked. But here’s what I got for this month. As a spoiler, everything is a SMASH, which is frankly, the way I like it.
#Amreading
Both of these books are in progress, so I can’t give a final verdict yet. But so far, so good.
Demon Copperhead is my audiobook at the moment—a literary novel I came across from the comment in my Men Don’t Read? video. It’s predictably well done, but some of the events in our young protagonist’s life hit hard, so I take this one in small does.
Theft of Fire by Devon Eriksen lit the indie world on fire with its The Expanse-esque worldbuilding and hard scifi attention to detail. I’m about a quarter through and loving it! (An interview with Devon is coming to my Nonsense-Free Editor YouTube channel that you absolutely don’t want to miss!)
Movies
Sinners blew my socks off and I can’t recommend it highly enough! It starts off as a riveting historical drama and ramps up into a supernatural horror movie. I intentionally didn’t watch any reviews or commentary before I went opening night, and as a result, I MISSED the mid-credits scene, which is basically the real ending of the movie.
Don’t make my mistake, and stay seated until the lights come up 😭
The Accountant has been out for a long time (since 2016) and I never got around to seeing it. But since the sequel is coming out and the preview looked good, I wanted to see it…
And now I’m annoyed I waited so long. I would firmly put this in the classics category. Every bit as good as Bourne.
TV
Mobland is the surprise of the year, as despite being a Tom Hardy fangirl, I didn’t know this was coming out. As you can see from the poster, the cast is amazing and the script will keep you at the edge of your seat. New episodes are on Monday, and I highly recommend it.
Next month, I plan to watch the Daredevil series, the first season of which is now complete on Disney Plus. Reviews have been mixed on that one, so we’ll see what I think of it.
I’ll also be seeing The Thunderbolts, the latest Marvel movie. It is with great trepidation I am willing to trust again (on a limited basis).
Let me know if there’s anything coming to the theater or to streaming I should be seeing!
I've seen the accountant. Guessed correctly for his brother. But not for the sister. There is a accountant 2 also.
The accountant is one of my favourite movies 😁 I didn't know there was a sequel 😱 I'll have to watch that too... When did it come out? I'm not sure if it's out here in Australia or not...will have to look it up 🤔😊😁
